Purpose
The Abilene Education Foundation (AEF) and Citigroup Grant Success Fund created the Science Classroom Grants to provide funding for creative and innovative instruction of science programs or projects designed to benefit Abilene ISD students. The Abilene Education Foundation (AEF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity created to promote and enhance excellence in education for the Abilene Independent School District

Applications will be accepted from individual science teachers or teams of teachers employed by Abilene ISD. Proposals submitted in a grant application should demonstrate creativity and innovation in educational programming and may include classroom supplies, manipulatives and equipment and/or field trips that affect the teaching and learning of science in the classroom.
Paper copies of the application are also available at each campus and at the AEF office in One AISD Center. Applications in MS Word format can be sent by email by contacting AEF Executive Director Jean McMillon at jean.mcmillon@abileneisd.org

January 18, 2008 (Funds for use in Spring and Fall of 2008) Winners notified on February 7, 2008
Awards Given
Grant Awards of up to $2,000 will be awarded to individual or team programs or projects. Grant requests at the higher end of the range should be justified by the complexity of the program and the number of students that will be affected. The number of awards will depend on funds available from the Abilene Education Foundation. The total amount of grant funds available for the 2008 calendar year is $25,000.
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed and scored by the Citigroup Success Grant Selection Committee and others as determined by the AEF Board of Directors. Recommended applications will be presented to the Executive Committee of the Abilene Education Foundation Board of Directors for review and formal approval.
The Citigroup Success Fund Grant Committee will notify winners in February of 2008, and the grants will be funded.
Responsibilities of Grant Recipients
Grant recipient(s) will use grant award for the purposes specified in the grant application.
Any materials or equipment purchased with the grant funds become the property of the Abilene Independent School District.
Grant recipient(s) will turn in all receipts and unused funds, along with a brief one page final Citigroup Success Fund Science Classroom Grants Evaluation (form provided) no later than January 10, 2008, which may be shared with other campuses, District teachers and administrators.
